Posting some new profile pages. We're getting further into territory where the biographical information is incomplete. As always, if you have information that would enhance any of our pages please contact us.

Today we learned of the passing earlier this week of 336's Bob Nelson, aka "Buffalo Grass." A long time A4FG member, Bob's caricatures of 'der Sweet Old Buzzard and the adventures of Admiral Slow Roll entertained Eagle Eye readers for years. Bob had been suffering from poor health recently, but that old spirit was as alive as ever. He will be greatly missed.

Also added a page for visiting pilot JW Motzenbecker, 365 FG. Updated Orrin Snell's profile, as well as Kidd Hofer's page to include serial number for The Missouri Kid/Sho Me. Which reminds me... Thanks to Thunderbolt junkie and fellow FG website (56th Fighter Group) admin Nigel Julian for uncovering the elusive identity to Hofer's P-47, with assists to Ted Damick and Peter Randall. Good show, fellas! Check out 4FG Mysteries for the 411! New profiles uploaded tonight:

New profiles: B Fowler, 335; R Hawley, 335; O'Bryan, 334; W Hunt, 335; McCall, 335; Skilton, 336 and Koenig, 335. Updates: Izant, 336; Burney, 334; Megura, 334 and Caudill, HQ. Corrections: Had Bob Priser listed as 'Donald' in the nose art gallery instead of Robert. All set. Cheers! Uploaded two short videos, a two part interview of 335's William Newell from 2008. Thanks to William's daughter Kelly for sending these to us.
This update consists of a new page dedicated to the Flying Eagles Dance Band and a pair of new profiles of long-serving Debdenites, Henry Sedmak (1063rd MP CO and 438th HQ&BSS) and Kendall "Swede" Carlson of 336. Have also updated the profiles of Godfrey (336) and O'Donnell (335/336).
Check out the new page here: History> The Flying Eagles Band More on the way! We've just added two new pages - they're not complete yet but are far enough along to see the light of day. They are Memorials and Debden After Hours.
Memorials provides photos of memorials and monuments dedicated to the 4th Fighter Group, along with a little background on how each one came to be. It can be found here: A4FG>Memorials. Debden After Hours page shows the men of the 4th away from the daily strain of combat operations and the long hours required to support them. Being a permanent RAF station, Debden had some of the best facilities in the VIII FC and the 4th used them every chance they got! Check it out here: Images>Debden After Hours. The page for the Flying Eagles band is still a work in progress but should be up soon. Then there will be a few weeks hiatus on updates as we get the August Eagle Eye ready. Until next time! |
