More Bios and a New Page

Hi all,

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend!

We added four more bios today: pilots Vermont Garrison, HL Davis, ML Davis and Tom Bell.

We have also begun work on a new section, tentatively named Flak, FIghters and Prangs, featuring images and stories of from 4th history.  First up here will be the crash of WD-L on 18 January 1945, with more soon to follow.

Finally, the 33rd Service Group and subordinate unit rosters will be up soon.  I know, you've heard that before, but this time I mean it!  There will still be a few units not represented when we go live with it (for example the 128th Army Postal Unit), but 90% or so of them are covered.  We will add the remaining units post haste.

The Station Map page will be temporarily unavailable...it will be reinstated in a couple of weeks, possibly in a new format.   Beyond that we have added bio pages for the following: Lacy, Grove, Hagan, Berry, Groshong, DuPree, Dayhuff, Oberhansly, Dvorak, Bowers, Boretsky, Farington, Wozniak and McFarlane.

Work continues on 33rd ASG and subordinate unit rosters; they will be uploaded over the weekend, early next week at the latest.

Cheers all!

438th ASG rosters added

At long last the personnel rosters for the three squadrons of the 438th Air Service group have been added.  They can be found here: Personnel>438th Air Service Group>.  A brief description of the unit's history appears on the 438th's main page.  These rosters represent the Station F-356 service organization as it existed as of 15 April 1945, after the 8th Air Force restructured the fighter group service units.

We are at work on building rosters for the original service organization, comprised of units from the 33rd Air Service Group.  This was the organization in place for most of the war, that is from early 1943 through 14 April 1945.  The 33rd ASG provided the service units for both the 4th and the 56th Fighter Groups.  While there will be a large overlap in the personnel on the two rosters, there are men who were transferred out prior to the reorganization and thus never served in the 438th ASG.  They will be represented in their appropriate unit rosters.  Biography pages for service group veterans who served in both groups will be accessible from either group's rosters.

With the addition of the service group rosters we have added our first "service" bio page, that of CWO Edward Richie of the 864th Air Engineering Squadron.  We hope to have the 33rd ASG with associated subordinate unit rosters ready for next week.

Also new this week is a feature we've borrowed from the Eagle Eye named Gone West.  This is under the News menu.

Cheers everyone!

The Association recently received 21 rolls of microfilm from the AFHRA at Maxwell AFB.  These rolls contain the histories of all the service units at Debden in addition to administrative squadron history information.  Despite being completely engrossed in this new wealth of information, we've still managed to keep adding to the site.

Following a suggestion by a site visitor, we will provide a brief description of the updates as they are made.  Additions/changes since the last update:

**  The Station Map page has been uploaded.  Find it here: History>4th Fighter Almanac>Station Map
**
The Places page under Images has been reorganized and an aerial shot of the field and another of the 334 flightline shack        has been added.
**  More bio page shave been added: McPharlin, Siems, Spencer, Jungling, Corbett, Monroe, Megura, Gover, Dickey, Burnett      and Arthur.

If you are a 4th Fighter Group veteran and do not see a biography page with your name please contact us so we can get your page built and added to the site.  If you are a family member or friend of a 4th vet and do not see your relative's/friend's page please let us know.
