As Promised...

7/8/2013

Well it didn't take long for summer to dig in its heels up here.  When I took off from Warwick it was in the low 90's and quite humid, and when I landed in Baltimore it was...well I'm sure you see where I'm going with this.  Rhode Islanders refer to this high temp, heavy air weather as being "muggy," while in Maryland they say that it's "close."  Whatever you call it, it's stifling!

Anyway here are the first of the promised content updates.  Two new profiles are up, Baumeister (365FG guest) and Hastings, 336; we also added a photo to EM Potter's bio page.  We have added new galleries in the following Image categories: Aircraft, Personnel and Places.  We added a new (to us) book to the Publications page, and the Nose Art Galleries now number 6 (3 Jugs, 3 Mustangs) and contain 72 examples of 4FG nose art.

More photos to come!  We are also working on a page dedicated to the Flying Eagles Dance Band/Orchestra in addition to finishing up some other pages that have been in development for some time.

Stay cool everyone...

Cheers!

Bio Pages...again

Kicking off March with some more biography pages.

They are: JL Bennett (336), Buchanan (334), Carlow (335), K Green (335), Rafalovich (334), Grey (334), Fetrow (335) and Hewatt (334).

Updated the following pages:  Krantz (336 Ground), Tomlinson (336 Ground), Wiggin (336) and Halsey (336).

Decent images are hard to find for some of the guys, and there are some profiles that have been uploaded without a photo.  If you have a decent shot for a faceless profile page, send us a copy.  A picture is worth a thousand words - or so I've heard.

Cheers!

1st Anniversary

2/28/2013

A year ago yesterday our site went live with a few pages of photos, a Group timeline, a page devoted to Group and Squadron commanders...and not much more.

Today we have rosters for all 4th and associated service units, just over 300 bio/profile pages, a virtual museum, posted a few articles and have several new pages in development among other things.

More importantly the site has acted as a conduit between the public and the Association and has allowed us to make contact with several 4th families.  We have been able to provide information about relatives to some folks, and have been the recipient of previously unknown information about others.  This exchange of information was one of the goals members of the A4FG had for this site.  We hope it continues in our second year.

We'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to our site, as well as extend thanks to the members of the Association of the 4th Fighter Group, without whose support this site would not have been possible.  We'd also like to thank the folks who've taken the time to contact us with corrections or updates to site content.  We try to be 100% accurate, but mistakes/errors will invariably slip through the cracks.  Your attention to detail only makes the site better as a resource.

Looking forward to a great Year 2 -

Cheers!

Our Guests Have Arrived

Have uploaded profile pages for all known guest pilots who flew with the 4th save one, W/Cmdr Peter R.W. Wickham.  Hope to have his up shortly.  Most are still without photos, but the info is sufficent to have them on-line now.

Also have reformatted two articles, and have a added a new one.  Marauders at Bay, which appeared in the Eagle Eye last year, tells the story of the 387th Bomb Group's week-long 'visit' to Station F-356 in January 1944.  Find them under the Publications menu on the Articles page.
