Carl F. Brown Collection
Carl F. Brown
Carl Brown was a pilot in 334, arriving on station four days before the Invasion and staying with the 4th until the very end. During his tour, Carl flew 72 missions and was credited with the destruction of an Fw-190 on 2 December 1944. When the 4th was shipped home, Carl was CO of the remnants of 334 Squadron which sailed west aboard the RMS Queen Mary in November 1945. Post war, Carl had a long and successful career as a mechanical engineer, and held corporate patents on various road striping machines and a patent on the Glass Bead Process for illumination of road lines/signs. Original captions from photos used when possible, and appear in quotations.
